AbD Serotec and Thermo Fisher Scientific Sign Agreement

By Labmedica staff writers
Posted on 27 Feb 2007
AbD Serotec, a division of MorphoSys (Munich, Germany), and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. More...
(Waltham, MA, USA) announced the signing of an agreement covering the use of Thermo Scientific DyLight Dyes in combination with AbD Serotec's diagnostic and research antibodies to prepare a series of fluorescent reagents. The resulting products will be available through the AbD Serotec sales catalogue. Financial details were not disclosed.

DyLight fluorescent dyes, available exclusively as part of Thermo Scientific's protein research product line, are an excellent alternative to other commercially available fluorescent dyes. DyLight dyes are water-soluble and provide high fluorescence intensity in many applications, while maintaining excellent photostability across a broad range of pH values. DyLight dyes are available over a wide range of spectra and match the output wavelengths of common fluorescence instrumentation.

AbD Serotec's product catalog comprises more than 10,000 antibodies and immunology reagents guaranteed to perform to specification. Custom monoclonal antibodies are generated for non-therapeutic applications using the HuCal technology that allows novel antibodies to be generated significantly faster than the current market standard and provides various other advantages over the use of animals for antibody production.

Fluorescent antibodies are particularly suited for detection of specific antigens in tissues or on cells and have become an indispensable tool for scientists worldwide, commented Dr. Achim Knappik senior director of R&D at AbD Serotec. Combining the vast range of research antibodies offered by AbD Serotec with Pierce Biotechnology's fluorescence technology enables AbD Serotec to further expand its wide range of fluorescent reagents, and will thus further enhance our offering in this segment.
