Nova Biomedical (Waltham, MA, USA) has introduced the New Generation StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System to the U.S. market. This system continues to utilize the only FDA-cleared test strip for glucose testing of critically ill patients. More than 200 published clinical studies validate StatStrip's accurate and reliable results, highlighting its ability to eliminate interference from a wide range of medications (over 8,000 tested) and the complex physiological conditions often encountered among patients in intensive care settings with complex medical conditions and drug regimens. The New Generation StatStrip enhances bedside glucose testing with several key advancements, including a transition to a Linux® operating system for improved cybersecurity against viruses and other malware, and extension of its hematocrit range to 5-75%.

The New Generation StatStrip now comes with RFID technology, an illuminated barcode scanner, and touchscreen keyboard entry for easier submission of operator ID and patient ID. It also features a wireless meter for faster, easier, and safer charging. The battery is charged in the meter’s sealed compartment, with the charger automatically shutting off when the meter becomes fully charged. Additionally, StatStrip’s new meter casing has been built using a unique soft-touch over-molding material that can withstand rough use and exposure to harsh disinfecting agents.

“We are proud to now offer our StatStrip New Generation platform for glucose testing,” said Rick Rollins, StatStrip Product Manager. “The new meter gives current StatStrip users and non-users a clear upgrade for easier hospital glucose testing while ensuring accurate, interference- free, and safe use with critically ill patients.”
