The American Association for Clinical Chemistry's (AACC; Washington, DC, USA) 42nd annual Oak Ridge conference will take place at the Fairmont hotel (San José, CA, USA) on April 22-23, 2010. More...

Participants will include scientists from academia and industry who are developing diagnostic devices. The conference's primary objective is to provide a forum for evaluating analytical techniques and instruments that will be commercialized and become routine in clinical laboratories within 3 to 5 years.

The program features four sessions: diagnostic technologies for resource-limited settings; novel multiplex platforms for diagnostics; emerging detection technologies for diagnostics; and novel separation and sample preparation technologies.

Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D. of the division of nanomedicine, department of biomedical engineering, University of Texas Houston (USA) will deliver the keynote presentation on nanotechnology and individualized medicine. From 2003 to 2005 Dr. Ferrari led the development of National Cancer Institute's program in nanotechnology, the largest program in nanomedicine in the world today.

Providing an excellent view of new technology for clinical diagnostics, the conference will be of interest to journalists who wish to report on new technologies.

AACC is a professional society dedicated to improving healthcare through laboratory medicine. Its over 9,000 members are clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists, and others involved in developing tests and directing laboratory operations.
