Automated Instrument Delivers Rapid Seal of Tubes

By LabMedica International staff writers
Posted on 07 Jun 2017
An automated capping/decapping instrument has been guaranteed to evenly seal an entire rack of 96 tubes within seven seconds.

The Micronic Univo Electric Capper and DeCapper CP480 can cap the following Micronic Push Caps on 96-format tubes (0.50, 0.75, 1.10, and 1.40 milliliter) in the following types of rack: TPE Capmats, Capbands, and Capclusters, and EVA Capmats.

The capper operates without buttons. More...
Instead, the drawer is pulled out of the capper, a rack filled with tubes is placed into the drawer, and the capmat or capband capping starts automatically. Due to a user-friendly interface it is possible to choose the right rack to decap, without using different adapters.

The CP480 was recently praised by Kelly Shahi, automation-engineering specialist at the biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb. Ms. Shahi said, “We just want to be able to handle and store our samples easily and effortlessly. The Micronic solution supports us in this. The capping equipment and TPE push caps have been super-efficient and easy to use; I use them as often as I can. The reliability of the equipment has been great with continuous usage.”
