Posted on 31 May 2012
A free application (app) developed for the iPad tablet gives users the ability to create, edit, and share chemical structures and reactions through a simple, intuitive, and effective interface that can be used for professional or educational use. More...

Dotmatics (Bishops Stortford, UK), a provider of chemical and biologic informatics solutions and services, their first version of the chemical drawing package Elemental for iPad, which is available to download free from the iTunes (Apple, Inc.; Cupertino, CA, USA) App Store.

In spite of being free, the app provides the same powerful functionality as the desktop and web-versions of Elemental that are used extensively in the Dotmatics platform. “The launch of Elemental for iPad provides a glimpse into the future and it is a big step forward in the world of communication and sharing of chemical information. We are leading the way in the scientific informatics field and a chemistry-drawing package that works on mobile applications has become an essential companion for chemists. We are responding to this need by delivering an App that will assist scientists in their day-to-day tasks,” said Dr. Stephen Gallagher, CEO of Dotmatics. “Elemental for iPad is a productivity tool with a wonderful educational aspect to it, and that's why we are providing it free of charge to all users,” he added.

Dotmatics is an informatics supplier to many of the top global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic organizations. Dotmatics is a scientific software company deploying web-based knowledge systems that improve the way scientific data are queried, managed, and shared within companies.
