Compact CT System With Submicron Resolution

A new high-resolution computed tomography (CT) analysis system has been developed with a compact design, made specifically for the special needs of material science, micro-mechanics, electronics, and biologic applications.

The nanotom CT system, developed by phoenix-x-ray Systems + Services Inc. More...
(Anaheim, CA, USA), is a 160 kV nanofocus CT system. The very compact system consists of a granite based CT-construction with a 160 kV high-power nanofocus x-ray tube of phoenix-x-ray and a special digital detector to reach a voxel resolution of less than 500 nm (0.5 micrometers). The fully digital detector has 5 megapixel resolution and a measurement range expansion for the highest possible resolution.

The system can evaluate samples with diameters up to 120 mm (4.7 inches) and a weight up to 1 kg (2.2 pounds). The special door construction as well as the sophisticated sample fixture permits a simple and precise positioning of the samples. The nanotom comes with phoenix-x-ray's new CT-software, datos-x. This software provides an easy and intuitive operation and requires only minimal training. The high efficiency of this software provides excellent image quality and volume reconstruction at all times. An available PC cluster provides further reduction of reconstruction times.

The system is particularly suitable for the three-dimensional (3D) examination of sensors, complex mechatronic samples, micro-electronic components and material samples in every type like synthetic materials, ceramics, composite materials, rock samples and much more. phoenix-x-ray is a leading manufacturer of microfocus and nanofocus x-ray systems, x-ray tubes, and CT systems.
