Microplate Reader for Spectrophotometer

The first microplate reader accessory for the Cary 50 ultraviolet-visible (U-Vis) spectrophotometer is designed to dramatically reduce the cost per analysis and the volume of sample required.

This new Cary 50 microplate reader accessory, from Varian, Inc. More...
(Palo Alto, CA, USA), can accurately perform wavelength scans from 190-1100 nm in up to 384 samples in microliter volumes, in contrast to many dedicated plate readers that have limited scanning capability. In addition to performing low volume, high throughput, nondestructive analyses, another feature of the Cary 50 accessory includes excellent temperature control, allowing measurements to be taken at precise physiologic temperatures or easily adapted for method-development optimization.

Scientists will use the Cary 50 reader accessory for a variety of applications, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), hospital laboratory work, and academic and pharmaceutical R&D. Scientists can also use the accessory for DNA, RNA, and protein quantification and the measurement of enzyme reaction rates to further research in diseases such as cancer.
