Gold Standard Diagnostics Highlights Updated AIX1000 Automated RPR Test System

Posted on 25 Jul 2022

Gold Standard Diagnostics (Davis, CA, USA) is highlighting its comprehensive diagnostic solutions at the 2022 AACC Clinical Lab Expo, including a suite of automated instruments for immunoblot, ELISA, and agglutination testing, and an extensive menu of assays for autoimmune, infectious disease, endocrinology, and more.

At AACC 2022, Gold Standard Diagnostics will be presenting the new version of the AIX1000 Automated RPR Test System with improved software and hardware features. The AIX1000 is an FDA cleared, CE marked, fully automated system for nontreponemal, rapid plasma reagin (RPR) testing. It has been designed to simplify the processing, analysis, result interpretation, and archiving for RPR screens and semi-quantitative titers. The AIX1000 is the world’s first fully automated system for nontreponemal RPR Syphilis testing. Users simply need to load their reagents and up to 192 samples, then walk away. The AIX automates the processing, analysis, reporting and archival of results for both RPR screens and titers.

The AIX1000 allows users to run flexible batch sizes of up to 192 samples in 90 minutes and performs RPR screens and/or titers using automated protocols. It employs a single, dual needle probe to aliquot Gold Standard Diagnostics’ RPR reagents in up to 4, 48 well microtiter plates, and an orbital shaker to perform the automated RPR test procedure. A built-in magnetic stir plate maintains carbon reagent suspension during the run.

The AIX1000 provides full sample traceability from loading to result reporting and archiving. An HD camera generates images of RPR test results that are stored digitally and are retrievable on demand. The RPR test procedure and results interpretation are fully automated, thus reducing variation associated with manual testing & interpretation. It also reduces the amount of labor overhead dedicated to RPR testing, freeing personnel to increase productivity across laboratory operations and improving the quality & consistency of results.

One of the key highlights of the updated AIX1000 Automated RPR Test System is the new universal slide-in rack system that accommodates a variety of tube sizes, making sample loading even easier and faster. Additional key updates include improved database management, thereby cutting the time to perform backup/restorations by half as well as remote data archiving capabilities, and an expandable status log.
